Class of 1992 alumnus Jered Lawson is the founder and Executive Director of Pie Ranch, a model center of sustainable farming and food system education located in southern San Mateo County. On his full time field study, Jered explored the then-emerging field of community supported agriculture and returned to help establish the Homeless Garden Project in Santa Cruz. Pie Ranch has become a favored field study site where the next generation of Community Studies students learn about the contemporary food justice movement.
